Project Description

[ flagship store and men’s spa ] client: confidential

completion: June 2011

design role: collaboration with client design team

This project involved the renovation of a landmark protected building on the upper east side of Manhattan. The client wanted to launch a new men’s spa concept in concert with their new flagship store. The building was in a state of severe neglect, requiring substantial structural and MEP renovations. The design team worked with acoustical consultants to detail the new windows and interior walls to provide maximum reduction of ambient noise from the busy intersection outside.

The overall aesthetic approach for the project drew heavily on the client’s existing material palette while drawing in outside artists and designers to lend their voices to different rooms. The overall result is a project with numerous different elements that blend into a cohesive, if eclectic, whole.
